The spectator come inside the room from the backstage of an street market scenographic structure that holds an illuminated screen. A gap on one side allows to enter the rest of the empty, bigger space from which watch the performance. Several shadow puppets expect to perform something.
The hidden of those critical discourses and practices of otherness became part of the processes of "naturalization" of an unfair and violent economic-symbolic system. One space of the museum, used historically as space of social representation, is opened to the invisible works, to the communication and public presentation of citizens' collective actions that are taking place right now in the city of Valladolid. They are proposed to take up this space and share their efforts and history, connecting one with each other. The general public can use the workshop space, in order to build their own puppets, at the same time that the Education Deparment of the Museum has adapted the proposal into a workshop on rewriting popular tales with children. Far from pretending an spectacle of dissidence, this work propose an up to date of the tradicional storytelling in order to stablish a genealogy of the heritage of critical and activist life and culture, aganist the "divide and conquer", the dead of ideologies, the "Mohawk Valley Formula" and the "all are personal problem" spirit of capitalism, searching ways of bringing back the faith that we can do things from the basis, with little resources, producing significant forms of writing and speech creatively and criticaly, not resigning to public spaces and the funcional transformation of the art institution. |
